Object Photogrammetry Capture Planner
Turn an object’s dimensions and your camera’s field of view into a usable capture schedule. See where to place the camera, how many photographs to take, and which surfaces need extra attention.

Does this turn photos into a 3D model?
No. It creates a capture plan and shot schedule. Use a photogrammetry application to align the photographs, reconstruct geometry and evaluate the result.
Is the overlap percentage guaranteed?
No. The planner converts the target into a conservative angular step. Actual surface overlap depends on object shape, occlusion, texture and framing. Check a pilot image sequence.
Where do I measure the camera distance?
The reported distance is from the camera position to the center of the object envelope. Ring heights are measured above the object’s support plane; horizontal radius is measured outward from its center line.
Why is the camera farther away than expected?
A bounding sphere encloses the full width, depth and height at every orientation. This is intentionally conservative for irregular objects and rotated views. A test photo can justify a closer position if framing and focus remain consistent.
Can I scan glass or shiny metal?
The geometric schedule still applies, but transparency and moving reflections can prevent reconstruction. Test the surface preparation and lighting before a full capture. More photographs alone do not remove that limitation.
